Bharat Bijlee uses a new efficient cooling system called Dual Circuit Cooling Arrangement (DCCA) for all its High Voltage motors in frame 315 and above. This technology consists of two independent cooling systems which improves the overall cooling of the motor. The primary cooling circuit is the regular stator casing with cooling fins. The shaft mounted external fan blows air over the body fin and cools the motor by forced convection and radiation. The secondary internal cooling circuit consists of rotor with vent holes, an impeller and ventilating passage on the stator body. The air inside the motor is circulated by the impeller which passes through the ventilating passage where it gets cooled on its way from non-driving end to the driving end by the primary circuit. This cool air then passes over the DE overhangs and through the rotor vents to the non-driving end and on its way absorbs heat from the overhangs and from the rotor. This heated air again passes through the impeller to the ventilating ducts and the cycle repeats.

     Construction:

    Brake Motors are used for instantaneous stopping of the driven load is required. The operation of the brake is “FAIL SAFE TYPE” i.e. normally ON. When the electrical power to the motor is cut–off or the power fails, the brake is applied.

    Brake motor is a combination of an A.C. induction motor and an EM AC or DC brake. The EM brake is mounted on the non–driving end of the motor.

    DC brake motor is provided with a rectifier which provides the DC voltage to the brake coil which in turn operates the brake. The supply to the rectifier is fed from any two terminals (between any two phases) in the motor main TB .

     

    Working:

    When the power to the motor is switched off, a braking torque is generated which presses the armature plate of the brake against the mounting flange. When the supply resumes, a magnetic field is produced in the brake coil and this pulls the armature plate against the spring force and shaft is now free to rotate.

    Special Features:
    • The brake motor IS simple, rugged & so easy for maintenance.
    • No separate DC supply is required. Rectifier is provided which gives the DC voltage for energisation of the brake.
    • The rectifier is mounted inside the main TB. Separate TB not required.
    Guidelines for selection of suitable Brake Model:

    Brake are rated by torque. Selection of suit. model can be made by cal. the required torque, Brake rating & matching it with static torque.

    T (Nm) = 9550 x (KW / RPM) x SF
    Electric motor SF = 2-3

    1. Selection chart is a general guideline for selection of brake size. If braking torque required is other than that mentioned in selection chart, this can be provided on request.
    2. Brake motors with safety factor less than 2 are not suitable for crane/hoisting applications.
    3. Motors up to frame sizes 132M can also be provided in aluminium housings.
    4. The motor must never be switched “ON” unless brake is energized & the brake should never be de-energized when the motor is “ON”.
    5. Brake motors with higher braking torque can also be provided on request.
